The successful experience of Amsterdam
Before expanding into the French market, Egis became the exclusive operator of street parking enforcement in Amsterdam (Netherlands) in 2016. Here, our teams carry out checks on no fewer than 160,000 fee-paying parking spaces and manage 180,000 subscription holders.
The all-digital approach adopted by Egis to manage parking in the Dutch city has helped achieve a constantly increasing rate of spontaneous payment. In 2016, this rate stood at 85%.
For 80% of the offences detected, the issuance of the fine is also automated and no longer requires the presence of officers in the street, who can therefore be allocated to other tasks. On the back of this success, the city of Amsterdam also awarded us a contract to check and manage so-called obstructive parking.
From France to Europe
Egis began developing solutions for the French market in 2015, in anticipation of the Act of Parliament decriminalising street parking offences. The law was passed by the French Senate three years later.
Since then, we have been supplying and operating parking enforcement systems in nearly 20 towns and cities in France (Paris, Bordeaux, Rouen, Nice, Angers, Montpellier, etc.), either on our own or in partnership with Transdev, through our joint venture Moovia. Egis also supplies them with the service to handle level 1 appeals (RAPO) against fixed penalty notices.
In addition to the Netherlands and France, Egis also supervises street parking in other European countries including the UK and Portugal.
