Less congestion and fair charging.
The 1.7km long Coatzacoalcos bridge is a key infrastructure of the State of Veracruz. It links the communities of Coatzacoalcos and Minatitlán to the petrochemical complex of PEMEX, the State oil company. It has an average daily traffic of +19,000, on a A2 road, which leads to high levels of congestion in peak hours.
A key challenge of the State of Veracruz was to lower the congestion levels, while ensuring fair charging for the daily commuters. Egis won the tender in 2005, and inherited an outdated residents program based on prepaid coupons.
