One of Europe’s most ambitious projects.
We were contracted by Bouygues Travaux Publics to provide our expertise on the Anse du Portier project – one of Europe's largest land reclamation works.
The company is a global player in construction, with a presence in over 60 countries worldwide. We supported them with Engineering, Project and Construction (EPC) management.
The challenge: Protecting natural habitats while meeting rising demand for space.
Monaco has some of the highest population densities in the world. The principality decided to invest in land reclamation to meet the rising need for housing and business space.
However, as much land has already been reclaimed from the sea, this project would be carried out on more challenging terrain.
The sea depth was uneven, and there were a variety of geological issues to address. We also had to consider the effects of swell, rising sea levels and possible seismic risks.
The new terrace would be built between two coral reefs that were protected and could not be disturbed.
Construction would also be carried out in a populated area, so noise had to be kept to a minimum for existing residents.
