Balancing ambition and resilience.
With approaching 2.3 million passengers in 2019 and 28,000 tons of cargo, Abidjan Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Côte d’Ivoire is one of the busiest airports in West Africa. It serves the second largest city in the region with more than 20 daily scheduled flights and 40 destinations available to passengers (2019 figures).
Like other airports around the world, Abidjan Airport is facing growing competition, the challenges of traffic growth, technological change, and new environmental measures, all in an emerging market that has recorded tremendous growth over recent years.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused a shift in some priorities, spotlighting health and safety, business continuity and resilience. As it emerges from the crisis, the airport is looking to maintain its position as one of the main aviation hubs in West Africa.
