In the presence of Iván Duque Márquez, President of the Republic of Colombia, the first stone was laid this Saturday 23 April in Urabá, marking the launch of the construction of this emblematic project. Puerto Antioquia, a project supported by the local population and awaited for 80 years, is destined to become one of the most important cargo ports in the country!
Egis, in partnership with Aqua & Terra, has been supporting the Puerto Bahía Colombia de Urabá (PBCU) project company and CMA CGM in the development of this project since 2016 and will supervise the works. The construction contract, signed in June 2020, is being carried by the consortium Eiffage Génie Civil Marine and Termotecnica Coindustrial.
A port complex of international scope
Located in the Gulf of Urabá, on the Caribbean Sea and at the heart of the country's raw materials production, Puerto Antioquia is also linked to Colombia's main cities by 4th generation concessionary road corridors. A port complex ideally located for international trade, as it will include :
- A multi-purpose deepwater terminal, consisting of 3 piers with a total length of 1,300 metres
- A 35-hectare land-based logistics terminal
- A 4.2 km viaduct linking the offshore terminal to the logistics terminal
- A bridge with a central span of 160 m
- A port access road
- A high voltage line for connection to the national grid
