During the Forum “France and Mexico allied towards Sustainable Nearshoring”, organized by the French-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI France Mexico), more than 200 participants gathered to promote dialogue and collaboration between the two countries around the development of a sustainable and efficient nearshoring model.
Nearshoring has gained momentum in recent years and has become an important business strategy for the Latin American economy. While moving production processes to geographically close countries optimizes costs and streamlines operations, the business model has the potential to be a key response to the fight against climate change and gas reduction.
Egis in LatAm stands out for having a sustainable vision and participating in innovative projects that promote green infrastructure. As experts on the subject, we actively participated in the panel “Building a more sustainable nearshoring: the challenges of smart mobility and urban development in Mexico”.
Máximo Muñoz, Director of Energy and Sustainable Cities at Egis in LatAm, presented the company's vision on the importance of developing smart and sustainable cities to cope with the industrial growth that nearshoring brings, emphasizing the need for modern infrastructure that responds to both energy demands and efficient urban mobility.
During the panel, other experts such as Fernando Bermudez of Manpower Group and Nicolas Estrada of VEMO also addressed the impact that nearshoring has on urban planning and transportation. While Maximo highlighted that Mexico has a unique opportunity to integrate smart mobility as part of its growth strategy, which will also help reduce congestion and promote the use of clean energy.
The French Ambassador to Mexico, Delphine Borione, and Hajer Najjar, General Director of CCI France Mexico, agreed that collaboration between public and private actors, such as Egis, is essential to achieve sustainable economic development in both countries.
