Following the signature of a two-year contract with the Polish Nuclear Power Plants’ State Company PEJ to carry out an update of the seismic hazard assessment for the nuclear power plant construction site of Lubiatowo-Kopalino, a Kick-Off meeting was held on February 20 in Warsaw, on Egis premises.
A Consortium, composed of Egis as Lead and Seister, a company specialized in geological and seismic engineering, will execute a seismic hazard assessment following a SSHAC level 3 methodology.
SSHAC, which stands for Senior Seismic Hazard Analysis Committee, is an American methodology of conducting expert hazard assessments through the structured process, described in US Nuclear regulatory Commission NUREG guides, and designed to provide a high-quality, comprehensive, impartial and scientifically sound outcome that would enhance regulatory assurance and stability in the site selection process, for both nuclear and nun-nuclear critical sites.
This is an exciting opportunity for our teams to expand our nuclear services in Poland where the Group has more than 1300 employees and where we have already delivered several major nuclear projects.
