Egis is pleased to announce the signing of a contract for the detailed civil engineering studies for the nuclear island of the two EPR2 reactors to be built at the Penly site in Seine-Maritime. This contract was won by the ENSPIR3 consortium, comprising Egis, Setec and GDS, of which Egis is the representative.
On December 13, Luc Rémont, Chairman and CEO of EDF, and Laurent Germain, CEO of Egis, formalised the signing of the contract.
The consortium led by Egis will provide the detailed civil engineering studies for the nuclear island of the two EPR2s planned by EDF on the Penly site.
Egis and its partners will carry out the civil engineering studies for the nuclear island buildings. In particular, they will carry out the overall calculations, including soil studies, detailed calculations and the development of digital formwork and reinforcement models to be used during construction.
European leader in nuclear civil engineering, Egis has a long history of working with EDF in France and abroad. For the EPR2 program, by investing in digital tools and digital continuity, as well as standardizing and automating its engineering processes, Egis plans to industrialize civil engineering studies for a large, complex project. The aim is to achieve high levels of cost/time performance while guaranteeing quality and technical expertise. Egis has also embarked on a knowledge capitalization program to address the industry's skills challenges and ensure its ability to meet EDF's long-term requirements for the consolidation of France's nuclear fleet.
Once completed, the two 1670 megawatt reactors will be able to supply several million homes with electricity. This project is essential to achieving our goal of zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
