Egis has been awarded a place on Network Rail’s new multi-million-pound telecoms professional services framework contract, with Egis being the only supplier to be awarded a place on both Lot 1 and Lot 2 of the framework. The appointment of Egis provides Network Rail with access to a wide range of multi-disciplinary technical and professional services, including project and commercial management, as well as technical and engineering services. For Lot 2, Egis teamed up with strategic partner Capita, enabling the two companies to offer an even greater technical and engineering capability.
The framework has been designed to provide a streamlined process to acquire the necessary skills and capabilities to support telecoms infrastructure plans. This will ensure that the telecoms network is future-proofed at a cost and quality that benefits Network Rail. The framework commences immediately and will run for two years, with the possibility of a further two-year extension.
With over 50 years of experience in delivering highly complex multidisciplinary projects for major railway and urban transit clients worldwide, Egis was selected in-part based on its demonstrated expertise and a flexible, customer-focused approach that aligns with Network Rail's needs. Network Rail’s national telecommunications capability is essential to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the railway. It includes telecoms networks, systems, and assets, such as the Global System for Mobile communications – Railway (GSM-R) network, to CCTV systems and customer information screens.
Egis has supported Network Rail for over a decade delivering projects with a combined budget of over £1 billion, such as: multidisciplinary renewal and enhancement works for Network Rail’s Southern region, via the Project Support Services Framework, a range of commercial services via the Service Partner Framework and supporting the Great Eastern Railway overhead line renewal projects.
