Egis, leader of the ONE consortium, and its partners (Ingérop, ISL, SBE, MDP, Ney & Partners and AEI) have been awarded the BIM d'Argent 2021 in the "infrastructure project" category for their collaborative work around BIM (Building Information Modelling) on the future large-gauge river canal.
An extraordinary project.
The 107 km long Seine-Northern Europe Canal will link the Seine and Oise river basins to the 20,000 km of large-gauge river network in Northern Europe, from Compiègne (Oise) to Aubencheul-au-Bac (Nord). With its 63 bridges and 7 locks, the construction of a large-gauge canal of this size is a first in France.
The ONE Group team is responsible for the complete project management of sectors 2 and 4 (48 and 28 km of the route respectively), including the construction of numerous highly technical facilities and engineering structures, as well as the locks and systems package, i.e. ¾ of the route and 6 locks.
BIM management, an innovative method for the project.
In order to respond to this ambitious project, the ONE Group has implemented a BIM-based project management system to
- Coordinate the work of 250 employees from 7 engineering companies based on several sites or working from home
- Share information in real time to avoid loss and ensure its continuity. 28 different software packages are used
- Secure the future site, in terms of quality, costs and deadlines.
Designed to be used throughout the canal's life cycle (design, construction, operation and even deconstruction), BIM has made it possible to bring together all the trades (river layout, road layout, hydraulics, geotechnics, earthworks, waterproofing, civil engineering for locks, equipment and systems, environment, landscaping, operation, etc.). A real tool for controlling the production of teams, it avoids the silo effect by facilitating exchanges between the various trades.
This is a first in linear infrastructure engineering on this scale, which contributed in particular to the cohesion and motivation of the teams during the health crisis.
