The Grand Mosque of Algiers, Djamaa El Djazair, the 3rd largest mosque in the world after Medina and Mecca, was officially opened. It is the tallest building in Algeria with the highest minaret in the world – 265 meters!
The architectural structure comprises 12 main buildings including a prayer room of 22,000 m², a conference room with 1,500 seats, administration buildings, a panoramic belvedere, technical buildings, and an anti-seismic structure on shock absorbers and isolators. For example, the minaret is anchored on a base 50 m deep.
In addition to that this work of architectural art has a university campus with 300 educational places including accommodation, a scientific laboratory, and a university library that gathers 1 million books!
Egis experts provided the administrative and technical supervision of the site, technical supervision works, and analysis of compliance with the execution documents (more than 27,500 technical documents) of the company CSCEC, since 1 March 2016. Egis was also responsible for the coordination of general planning and financial and contractual monitoring.
The Egis team consisted of more than 80 on-site staff and a back office of around 20 experts and engineers.
